Forged by the Land: How a Trip to Barnbougle Became Elements

Posted by Nicholas Ilias on

Some places are more than destinations, they’re rites of passage. For golfers, that place sits on Tasmania’s northeast coast, where wind, dunes, and sea collide in perfect rhythm. Barnbougle isn’t just a course, it’s a living landscape that tests your patience, rewards your courage, and reminds you why you fell in love with the game in the first place.

In 2024, a few of us flew down from Sydney to celebrate a mate’s 30th. No big plans. No expectations. Just a group of friends chasing a weekend of golf, laughs, and the unknown. When we stepped off the plane and headed north toward the coast, the air changed.  Cleaner, sharper, charged with something we couldn’t quite name. And when the dunes finally came into view, it hit us: this was golf as it was meant to be. Raw, exposed, and completely at the mercy of the elements.

At Barnbougle, the land doesn’t host the course - it is the course. The wind becomes your caddie and your rival. The fairways ripple like ocean swells, and the fescue moves like breath across the landscape. Every lie demands imagination. Every shot reminds you how small you are compared to the coastline that’s been shaping itself for centuries.

One hole it’s calm. The next, the wind howls off Bass Strait, and rain sweeps across the dunes without warning. You don’t fight it,  you lean into it. Because that’s where the magic happens.

The beauty of that trip wasn’t just in the course, it was in the moments between. The slow mornings, the banter between holes, the quiet beers watching the sun burn orange over the hill. It’s in those in-between moments that the game becomes something greater. The mate ship, the shared struggle, the laughter when a 4 quickly turns into a 8, that’s what sticks.

That trip became more than a memory. It became the spark for Elements. The rolling dunes, the salt air, the unpredictable weather. They found their way into every design choice, every line, every piece. What started as a golf trip with friends turned into the creative foundation for everything this collection stands for: nature, resilience, and connection.

When it came time to bring Elements to life, there was only one place it could happen. We returned to Barnbougle to shoot the campaign - to capture the same rugged beauty and raw energy that inspired it all. The wind, the salt, the light. Every frame of that shoot carries a piece of that original trip, that feeling, that bond.

From Tasmania’s coast to our first Paris trade show, Elements has always been about more than apparel, it’s about where the game takes you, and who you share it with.

If you’ve ever thought about it, stop thinking. Book it. Go with your closest mates. Play through the wind, the rain, the sun, and everything in between. You’ll come home changed, not because of how you played, but because of what the experience gives you.

Every golfer owes themselves a round at Barnbougle - where the elements shape more than the course… they shape the memory.
